Paper artworks in the beautifully lit Wilhelmina Park!

During the festive closing ceremony of IFIKZ, Wilhelminapark came to life with light, art, and music. It was a special discovery: works of art made of paper by artists and students from Talland College. The park was beautifully lit, the artworks were wonderfully highlighted, and acoustic music added to the atmosphere. On behalf of Visit Zaanbocht and Hotspot Wormerveer, we had the honor of opening this event.

Young dancers from Dansstudio Jemi Danssquare in Wormerveer captivated the audience with an enchanting choreography that brought together dance, light, and paper.
Under the choreographic direction of Britt Krap, the dancers move to a mix of classical music and hip-hop. With illuminated wings, they create playful and graceful movements, while at various points they dance alongside large sheets of paper. The paper thus becomes part of the choreography and takes on an entirely new meaning.

Art plays an important role. Art sparks curiosity, brings people together, and changes the way you see things. And you could feel that in everything tonight—in the visual arts, the music, the dance, the fashion, and the lighting. The theme “The Power of Zaan Paper” is a wonderful source of inspiration, but it’s the creators who really make it shine. They give new meaning to old stories, new forms to familiar materials, and new energy to what we thought we already knew.

Tonight, you'll see Wormerveer as it can be—creative, open, curious, and full of life. A village that's proud of its past but just as eager to look to the future.

It was a real treat!
