Around the Zaan Bend

Along the Zaan River in Wormer and Wormerveer, municipalities, residents, organizations, and businesses are working to create a region where life is good—with excellent amenities, plenty of housing and jobs, good accessibility, and plenty of green spaces. The Zaan River is the lifeblood of the region. People have been living, working, and enjoying their leisure time along its banks for centuries. This unique history is clearly evident in the historic factory buildings, stately homes, and an attractive shopping district. And no matter where you are, nature is always close by. To enhance these qualities and ensure they are future-proof, the municipalities of Wormerland and Zaanstad have joined forces. Together with residents, business owners, and stakeholders, they are developing an area and implementation plan titled “Rondom de Zaanbocht.” This plan outlines agreements on how issues such as housing, traffic, the economy, tourism, and nature will be addressed.
