The “Strategy for the Zaan” provides a strong foundation for cooperation between the municipalities of Zaanstad and Wormerland, but to truly put the area on the map, we now need to move toward a comprehensive master plan. While the strategy sets out the goals for accessibility, mobility, tourism, and storytelling, the master plan serves as the essential blueprint for implementation.

It is the tool that translates abstract plans into a logical layout of public space, where parking solutions and the unique history of the Zaan region come together seamlessly.With a master plan for the entire area, we are creating the necessary clarity and investment potential to transform the Zaanbocht in Wormer and Wormerveer into a vibrant, future-proof destination for residents, businesses, and visitors.

As part of the "Hotspot Wormerveer" vision, Visit Zaanbocht has been advocating for years for the need for a comprehensive master plan; while there is already a great deal of momentum in so many areas, it is precisely for this reason that the logical next step—which the area needs and deserves—is still missing.
