With the theme of “remembering, connecting, and looking ahead,” we want to introduce—or reintroduce—not only Moluccans but also other residents of Wormerveer and the Zaan region to the history of the Moluccans in the Netherlands and the richness of Moluccan culture and folklore.
On August 29, aPasar Maluku (Moluccan market) willalso takeplace in the morning and afternoon on Zaanweg, starting at the corner of Marktstraat. The event will feature performances, vendor stalls, Moluccan cultural dance and song, and will conclude with a performance by the popular Latin rock bandMASSADA!
To promote sharing and connection, a central location in Wormerveer has been chosen for this special occasion. It will be a gathering place where, in addition to commemorating, people can enjoy Moluccan stories, music, art, food, and culture.
